This October, Daily Drip is taking a trip to Melbourne.
Meet Vacation Coffee, the Melbourne specialty roaster that has spent the last decade making seriously good coffee feel a little more like a holiday.
Vacation started in 2016, when founders Jimmy, Matt and Kael began roasting from a communal space in Cremorne, supplying some of Melbourne’s top cafés. A year later, they opened their first tiny espresso bar in the CBD, bringing the Vacation idea to life with pastel colours, retro design and a very clear message: coffee is a Vacation.
Fast forward to today and Vacation has grown into a multi-site Melbourne café brand and dedicated roastery, now roasting from Brunswick on a Diedrich IR12. Along the way, they've built a reputation for coffees that are sweet, smooth and full of character — without making you work too hard to enjoy them.
Their roasting style is all about bringing out the best in the coffee. Medium-roasted espressos, medium-light filters and a particular love for naturally processed coffees make for cups that are approachable, balanced and seriously tasty. As Vacation puts it, there's no such thing as too sweet.
From dependable espresso blends to juicy single origins and limited releases, there's plenty to get excited about this month.
